More PETA Stupidity

Starving for publicity, the soy heads at PETA sent a letter to the socialists at Ben and Jerrys ice cream, urging them to use human breast milk instead of cow milk, in their products. I don’t even know where to begin to describe how ludicrous and insane this idea is. Yes, I know there are some small Swiss ice cream shops that provide ice cream made with breast milk, and yes I’m aware of the negative effects the added hormones in cow milk can have on our bodies, specially in excess amounts. But to mass market a product made with breast milk is unconscionable and unrealistic.

Even if you can find that many post-pregnancy volunteers to accomplish even one third of Ben and Jerrys product line, what straight woman would want to consume ice cream made from the breast milk of another woman? Other than erotically inclined men and the Rossie Odonell’s of the world, it would be a very tiny market.

And for Petes sake, what cow suffers from being milked? If the hypocrites at PETA really cared about animals, they would stop killing so many of the animals they’ve adopted over the years. From 1998 to 2007, PETA has slaughtered  over 19,000 of the pets they’ve adopted. A total of 84%. Your pet has a better chance of surviving in an animal shelter.

In 2006, Pen and Teller (of the famed “Bullshit” show) exposed PETA for the frauds that they are. Noteworthy, was a tax return document they uncovered itemizing a walk-in freezer which had been purchased by PETA president. Now that’s a strange piece of appliance to have if you’re a vegetarian isn’t it? A meat freezer? Either the PETA prez is storing large amounts of tofu in preparation for a nuclear holocaust, or behind closed doors, PETA really stands for People Eating Tasty Animals.

But getting back to breast milk. Wouldn’t PETA be better served by urging lactating women to actually use their milk on their own babies, as opposed to raising them on baby formula? And help raise awareness about the importance of feeding babies breast milk at least for their first 6 months of life? As opposed to making ice cream and sparing a few cows who complain of nipple soreness.? You decide. JP

    Yeah? Since when?

How exactly can you justify making claims without proof?
The point of this ad was to make you and other people THINK!!
If breast milk is for babies, then cows milk is for baby cows and it doesn’t take a genius to come to that conclusion. I know, it hurts. Being wrong sucks and no one wants to admit when they’re wrong. But if you don’t, you never grow. You never learn. So if ignorance is good enough for you, then fine. Just do the rest of us a favor and keep it to yourself.

    P.S.
And yes, I do recognize the irony in calling you out for making claims without proof in a comment on an article that’s making claims without proof, but I didn’t think I needed to point out the author’s opinionated bullshit.

“…the soy heads at PETA sent a letter to the socialists at Ben and Jerry’s ice cream…”

Nothing but a bunch of insults.

Are these the accomplishments you will remember and be proud of in the future?

  3. In an interview by Laura Ingram on WABC radio in which she asked a PETA rep to explain her position and how an ice cream maker would get enough breast milk to make ice cream, the PETA rep said that ben and Jerrys could start with a small percentage of their ice cream line and went on to mention that an ice cream shop in Swisserland sells ice cream made from breast milk. So PETA was not “just trying to make a point” they really meant it. So check your facts. And as for hormones, they are not added to cow milk directly, they are injected into cows and ends up in our milk.

  4. Makes a fella want to be a new world dairy farmer.

I wonder how many people would sign up to be milkers….
